Woodstock Sailplane
Date: Sat, December 24, 2005
Back when I was getting interested in building an airplane again, I wanted to build a glider. The best list of designs can be found here. There is an unfortunate lack of available/proven designs. One of the designs that was available when I was looking, but is unfortunately not being sold now, is the Woodstock. A very cool design, which seems to be descended from the Duster BJ-1B (although nobody ever comes out and says this; they are certainly uncannily similar).
But alas, the designer died (in his bed...) a few years ago, and now no one is selling the plans. I should have bought a set when I had a chance...

Dave:
I'm getting there, it's a series of articles. :)
Plus, I generally focus on plans built, most of the Schreder designs are kit only.
They are excellent designs though, I totally agree.

Whaaa?
Check out the HP series of sailplanes designed by Dick Schreder. A good starting place is Soar Idaho. These are excellent homebuilt sailplanes, some with glide ratios over 40:1.
