Take a look at this pretty Chris-Craft style boatbuilding project. My favorite part of the story is how he got his kids to help, I wont give it away.
His son also built a Trebuchet, and they have some video to look at.
The design is a Glen-L Riviera. If I built something like this, I would use a plan from back in the 30's/40's. Probably more dangerous, but the lines are sooo pretty. Plus, I'm a sucker for a canoe stern, and sexy speed bulges over the engine compartment. Don't get me wrong, this is a pretty boat, just not the design I would pick.
