There was this company in England named Banham that made kit cars, I'm not sure they are still in business (actually, I have very severe doubts, the web page is dead...) They seemed to have been a british equivalent of CMC here in the colonies. They did some very interesting cars, including a 550 Spyder, and a Bugeye Sprite replica, of which you can find an interesting build diary (and wager!), here.

It's sad to see any company that made the bits for a bugeye sprite replica go out of business. Aaaah, the happiest car in the world...
