While the BD-5 got all the press, the real gem of Jim Bede's designs, the BD-4, is probably his best design. The owners are very happy (which can't really be said about the BD-5), and there's still good support for the design.

Personally, I would probably build a Bearhawk, but the Bede is certainly a good design. Somebody is probably going to reply and tell me I'm a jerk. :)
