Clocks

I am the last person on earth to read 'Longitude' by Dava Sobel. This of course got me interesting in clockmaking and that, of course, is a great idea for a builddiary.net article....

So, the first page I find is... obviously the work of a true craftsman, but is burdened by one of the most... ungainly site designs I've ever seen. (Frames! lots of FRAMES!...). It's still a good site, just hard to get around.

What I found through his links page however, is some pretty cool stuff on making clock movements out of wood, which looks like a lot of fun. Plus, Harrison's first clocks were made out of wood, so it ties in nicely.

Shaun: I agree about the page. It's got some interesting and useful information on it, but I to this day have no clue why anyone would want to use frames. I get that they are easy, but they make your site look like it hasn't had a redesign since 1997.
Dave: Exactly! His design would take about 10 minutes to put together with a table and server side includes... Let alone anything really modern...
