DIY Guitar Effects Page with Samples and Commentary
Date:   Mon, November 7, 2005
This website, which has the way too cool name of www.home-wrecker.com has some quite good information on building your own guitar effects. The author is trying to find the best fuzz pedal for his style of playing, but there are also schematics and sound samples for several other types of effects as well. Octavias, pitch shifters, phasers, and something called the "Harmonic Jerkulator", which totally nails that Joe Walsh "Ordinary Average Guy" sound.

Jim: "Harmonic Jerkulator" sounds cool and it looks VERY easy to build. Two transistors, a couple potentiometers, a handful of resistors and caps... I already have half the parts on hand.

Yes, I am actually going to build this one to go with the Strat!

Gonna print out some of the plans for Tim, too, before he leaves for greener pastures.

Dave: I want a full report when you're finished... :)
Jim: Turns out the transistor I want isn't available at RatShack so I'll take a trip to Charlotte tomorrow to Slayton Computers (a little plug for the folks who host the local Amiga users group). They've got huge bins of parts, etc. so I should be able to put it all together in the next week or so.

I'll keep you posted.

Dave: I've been thinking about placing an order with Mouser maybe.
Jim: Between Slayton and the local RatShack, I have all the parts including the perf board.

Maybe I'll get it all together this weekend. I'll send you the pics I take as I get this project together.
