DIY Metal Lathe

Ok, so if you make your own metal foundry, then the next step must be to cast the parts for your own lathe, right? I find this amazing, like the people who find airplane homebuilders amazing. Although I don't, because I have an idea what goes into that.
This webpage was written under the influence of a series of books written by David Gingery, which basically tell you how to make your own metalworking shop, including a foundry, lathe, shaper, bending break, drill press.... And from all reports I've seen are well written as well. I really need to start writing book reviews....
