Eerily Familiar Robotic Sentry Project
Date:   Wed, October 26, 2005
Senior projects at my Alma Mater (the Oregon Institute of Technology) tended towards the insane. Mine was a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game, one of the Junior projects (these involved teams of 4 students) was a GPS guided model airplane (which really worked; almost took my head off...)

It was the friday before finals week of my senior year, I was in my senior project class... All the students were under a lot of stress -- especially with the crunch before junior/senior project demonstrations.

Out in the hall, a very loud "Bang!Bang!Bang!" noise burst forth. Oh god, Doug Lynn's Microprocessors class proved too hard for someone and they've gone postal...

But no, it was just someone's senior project -- a computer controlled paintball gun for use as a sentry. Just almost exactly like this one, except that it shoots BB's instead.

Shaun: Can I have one for Christmas?
Jim: Pretty cool, eh? I was going to send you the link to this but you beat me to it.

Gotta build one of these. Like the tracking videos?

Dave: Seems like a classic solution to your "Neighbor's Dog" problem... :) Yeah, I love the videos, I should have mentioned them in the article... "Ow! Hey! Ow!"
Cecilia: Oh god... I remember that. In my class the teacher crept toward the door like a sargent in compact and crouched down lower then head level and stuck his head out the door. I swear it looked like he was having flashbacks to 'Nam.
Travis: I was in Doug Lynn's Microprocessors, we could have gone postal. I'm thinking it would be the perfect deterrent for Trick-or-Treaters this Halloween.
