Gorgeous Anachronism
Date:   Mon, June 13, 2005
This steam launch is absolutely beautiful. Pretty lines, and nearly everything is homebuilt, including the steam engine. The hull, a Selway Fisher design with modifications to make it radius instead of hard chine, is very well done.

Anything involving machining of parts still seems like magic to me, but it's obviously doable. How do you get dimensions to within 1/1000 of an inch when machining something by hand? I have no idea, but it's obviously doable.

Cecilia: Dude, I want to be Kate!!
Jim: Is it just me or does this machine bear a striking resemblence to the African Queen? I know it's smaller but you put a canvas canopy over it and you can play Humphrey Bogart!
Cecilia: That is so funny, that is exactly what I was thinking! Kinda neat looking boat.
Dave: Oh yeah, exactly the same thing went through my head too. Can I be Kate Hepburn? ;)
Jim: Not since you cut your hair. When I first met you, maybe. :D
Dave: *Dude*, I called it first. :)
