Bret (not the wrestler) Hart, has put together this interesting set of bizarre musical instruments. I like the bass banjo -- looks like fun.

Seems to me you could make similar 'mashups' fairly quickly if you had some old musical instruments, pvc pipe, etc, sitting around.
