Jim Craig's 20 Meter Reciever
Date:   Sun, September 24, 2006
The latest Plog to be put up on the website is Jim Craig's 20 meter band ham radio reciever that he's built from a kit. After only spending about $40, he's pulling in conversations from 5 states away -- not bad!

Jim: Got even farther Friday evening. After the Texas QSO Party ended for the night, I fiddled across the dial and got a decent SSB signal. After a while, the guy gave his call sign which turned out to be in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. So with this little rig and some old TV antenna lead-in for a dipole antenna, I got a station from across the continent.

I guess the atmospheric conditions were operating in my favor last Friday.

The radio also regularly picks up hams from the Carribean and Central America. And, naturally, it makes me want to study so I can pass the code test to get to the next level license... and pester Dave (and anyone else on BuildDiary.net) to get a license.
