This is also a good time to mention that you too can use the logging website I put together. I've been thinking of changing the name to Plogger, or something equally shameless. Project Log -- Plog...Plogger! Oh how very web 2.0 of me...
There's 20 entries in there, mate! The next biggest log has 5 entries.
As for my building a plane, I think I'm going to stick to ham radio. To the best of my knowledge, no ham operator has ever been carried away on a stretcher (with or without a sheet over his face) when the power to his radio conked out.
All kidding aside, thanks to Dave for giving folks a place to put our build diaries.
I would say flying an airplane you built yourself is probably about as dangerous as motorcycle riding, maybe a bit safer. I know plenty of guys who've been doing it for years.
I think that's why Dave put this site up because there's lots of stuff here that someone could buy elsewhere (telescopes, speakers and so on) but for do-it-yourself types like me, it's nice to have one place to find the resources to help us out.
We have a repeater on Mt. Mitchell which is the highest peak east of the Mississippi River. So with my little 25 watt 2 meter rig, I've spoken to people in Tennessee, Virginia, Georgia and, naturally, North Carolina. I've been told that if the conditions are right, I can talk to folks in Alabama and other eastern states.
73!
