Lasers, Tesla Coils and other Crazy Stuff
Date: Sun, April 10, 2005
My tech and I are both into lasers and did some research while studying physics. He told me about a kind of homebrew laser based on transverse elecrical discharge in gas at atmospheric pressures (TEA) laser and we did a websearch for one.
The best page belongs to Dr. Mark Csele and can be found here.
While trying to find that page, I found the site of a guy in Australia who builds lasers and a lot of other things. You can find his site here. I'm not sure if this guy is a genius or simply crazy but the stuff is muy cool!

That's me. More the latter than the former. Hey, I have a regular day job but after hours in my shed I transform.....
TEA nitrogen laser are very cool, extremely simple, cost nothing to make but are very finicky and fickle.

BTW in reference to your Never-look-directly-into-the-fireball: This is what ophthalmolgists get their patients to do all day long and often with their one remining eye!

My son and I have been looking over your pages and are incredibly impressed. I have the feeling that having something like the big coil in our yard would keep the neighbor's dogs away!
The Never-look-directly-into-the-fireball comment was a holdover from my youth when we were taught that ducking into a ditch with our coats over our heads would protect us from nuclear annihilation.
Ah, the innocence of the '60's.
