MicroCar Kits
Date:   Wed, August 17, 2005
I think it's common knowledge at this point that I'm a microcar/cyclecar/trike nut. It goes along with my passion for anything small and "impractical". Is it wrong to cringe everytime you see a blonde suburbanite driving (alone) in an Excursion?

Now you can fight the absurd with the equally absurd! Kit based Microcar replicas. You have your choice of a BMW Isetta or Messerschmitt Kr-200 replica. Isetta's are great because the front of the car doubles as the door, and the stearing wheel swings up and away when you open it up, just like the real deal. The Messerschmitt looks like a cute stubby version of the Me-109.

I must Admit I've always lusted after one of the originals (I certainly do have a lot of things I would like to own one day, don't I, but it's true!), I've wanted a Messerschmitt since I saw one in Terry Gilliam's Brazil.

Cecilia: OK those are too cute. But unfortunately, my only memory of the Isetta is an episode of Family Matters. Helarity insues with Urkel of course...
Dave: Ouch, it truly hurts when anything I love is featured on a bad sitcom.
