Pretty RV-7
Date:   Thu, May 19, 2005
Van's Aircraft sell what is arguably considered the most popular homebuilt airplanes around. They're fast, fun to fly, take off and land in a short distance, and just all around nice airplanes. The factory is here in Portland, and Van is a pretty cool, if curmudgeonly, old guy.

I think I've found the RV equivalent of that Bearhawk website I posted a while back -- lots of wonderful detail, including step by step pictures of some of the stranger tasks (like sealing the gas tanks using black goop.

Dave: I really should do that sometime, I really want to see their setup down there, and I may want to buy bits from them in the future, so I also want to see if they will take walk up business.

I found out how much aluminum would cost through a company in Seattle -- 2024t3 Alclad 4x12 sheets (not 4x8!), .020 for $128.00, .040 for $185.00.

Not sure how I'm going to get it down from Seattle however... ;)

Damn, you really do have the RV bug, don't you? ;)
Cecilia: That is a great picture on the front page. I think low wing tail draggers are the most beautiful aircraft in the world.
Travis:

Dan's RV Project is very cool website. I've been to it several times. So other cool things on his website that are worth looking is his trip to Mexico in 2004 in his RV-7 he built and a very handy Weather section.

Also the first customer built RV-10 just had its first flight not to long ago. And the 2nd customer built RV-10 took off on May 20th and was at the Fly2Fun airshow last weekend. I got to talk to a guy who flew down in it. Kinda-of like saying a friend's sister's uncle who...

If you ever want to visit Van's Aircraft let me know. They're just down field from my office. We watch RV's take off here all the time.
