This page will make you want to pick up the banjo, do a little astronomy, perhaps build a sled... I originally went there to find an article on boat building, and now I can't find the article I originally went to because there's so much other stuff to look at.
This website is the work of a single author, who has a very good writing style for the kinds of articles he writes. It's very simple and he never lets the niggling details get in the way -- perfect for the beginner.
By the way, anyone out there have a banjo to trade for an electric guitar I never play anymore? It's a Samick, but plays pretty well.

Makes me wonder if the hosts for this site live nearby. Hmmm...
I also like the online lessons for bluegrass guitar. Might have to try my hand at it.
