The Building of Aslan
Date: Fri, December 31, 2004
Here's a nice page detailing the construction of a Stevenson Weekender -- which is a small sailboat designed to look like a friendship sloop.
The weekender is a stressed skin plywood design, similar to the kind of thing Phil Bolger designs, but not really influenced by Bolger. Sort of like bats and birds; same requirements, same restrictions, but evolved from vastly different creatures.
This build diary is well written, but does indulge in a pet peeve of mine -- it separates the text from the pictures. This makes the user flip back and forth between the diary and the pictures. If there were more links to the pictures it would help.
Did I mention I think Aslan is a seriously cool name for a boat?
