This wasn't much of a day, but I did make some progress, so here it is.
The shop in Hood River wasn't available, so I decided to build the crossovers.
I had to ask Dave Brown a couple of questions (which side of the power supply was
positive (the top), and were the woofers wired in series or parallel (parallel)), which
he very promptly answered. All my questions so far have been anwered quickly, even
to the point of changes to the web site on the same day I ask them. He seems like a really
nice guy.
The crossovers went together really quickly, most of my time was spent double checking
all the connections, plus both crossovers worked correctly right off the bat. I built a
theremin once from a kit, and I spent quite
some time tracing down grounds to the case, etc.
After listening for a while, I noticed quite a lack in the bass frequencies, even more
than you'd think from running the drivers without a cabinet, and I found out that I had
made the classic speaker building mistake--reversing the polarity of one set of speakers,
so once I swapped the leads to one of the speakers, I got much better bass. I can't
wait to here the speakers in the cabinets.

The speakers mocked up on top of my computer case (no, the computer is not inside...)
The crossover, wires twisted together but no solder yet.
The whole crossover/speaker system. Notice the mighty Marantz 2238b, receiver
of the gods...
