I plan to create a design for a spinning wheel with two major design goals. It will be a modular design, and it will require very little woodworking ability and few tools. I plan to create a design that I will publish for others to use for free.
To start with, my husband ordered plans for a Saxon wheel. I have been studying it, and I plan to convert it to a Castle wheel, because the structure is much simpler. I want to use hardwood dowels, which will eliminate the need for a lathe. I plan to simplify the bobbins as well, to make it simple to make as many as you need.
It will most likely be a very ugly wheel, but will be extremely easy and cheap to make, which I hope will fill a niche for the community.
